PR – 126

A short-duration, early-maturing variety known for its high water-use efficiency and excellent wheat compatibility.
• Duration: 123–125 days (short duration, early maturing)
• Yield: 32–37.2 q/acre
• Water Requirement: Needs ~25% less water than long-duration varieties due to shorter duration and monsoon-aligned transplanting
• Productivity: High per day productivity (~24.4 kg/day/acre)
• Sowing/Transplanting Window:
– Nursery Sowing: End of May – End of June
– Transplanting: 25–30 day-old seedlings in early July (with onset of monsoon)
• Suitability: Ideal for Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) in June for enhanced water use efficiency
• Disease & Pest Resistance: Genetic resistance to bacterial blight; escapes many pest/disease attacks due to shorter duration
• Straw & Residue Management: Lower straw load; easy residue management
• Wheat Compatibility: Provides ample window for timely wheat sowing
• Milling Quality: Comparable to other popular varieties; better than hybrids
• Fertilizer: Apply urea in 3 splits (7, 21, 35 DAT). Delays beyond 35 DAT can reduce yield by 6–7%
